But sweeping in Cleveland would make things very much more interesting, obviously, in both pursuits. |
Ummm......I meant the Tigers sweeping the Indians. I also didn't mean to edit this post, just quote it, so I wiped out everything I said otherwise. Fooey. _________________

Tigers deal Jurjjens and Gorkys Hernandez to the Braves for Edgar Renteria. This should be a good trade for both teams filling positions of need for each. Guess this takes the Tigers out of the ARod sweepstakes. Bummer, I was looking forward to Sheffield and ARod getting the band back together and a season of them recreating the most awkward chest bump celebration in the history of awkward chest bump celebrations after Sheff scored in the first inning of game one of the 2004 ALCS. _________________ MyFi

|
|
DETROIT (AP) Jacque Jones was cut Monday by the Detroit Tigers, who had promised a lineup shakeup going into a homestand against the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
Detroit designated Jones for assignment and has 10 days to trade the outfielder, put him on unconditional release waivers or send him outright to the minors.
Jones hit just .165 with a homer and five RBIs in 24 games for the Tigers, who acquired him during a busy offseason from the Chicago Cubs.
To take Jones' spot, Detroit purchased the contract of outfielder Matt Joyce from Toledo. He hit .299 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 28 games for the Triple-A club. |

Rest in peace George Kell, who died today at the age of 86.
He spent 37 years in the broadcast booth for the Tigers, both on radio and TV.
Truly one of the biggest Tigers personalities/players of all time. |
