Wow a Chuck Berry song on 60's on 6.

Imagine that! Chuck Berry had three recordings that hit the TOP 40 in the 1960s, all about the time the British invasion was getting cranked up. An even bigger surprise would be to hear either of his two TOP 40 hits in the 1970s on the '70s channel, both of which are curiously played on the '50s channel every now and then.

But then we can't expect to hear any of the five TOP 40 hits Tony Bennett had in the 1960s on the '60s channel. Might cause someone to have a heart attack!

Sunshine Company's #36 hit from 1967, ""Back On The Street Again" played this afternoon around 3 pm pacific time. Now that is diggin' deep for Sirius, thanx Lou!!! These types of songs are much appreciated. Cool

Roger Miller only exists during the Cousin Brucie show, since only he is allowed to break the strict Sirius FM format.

Damn that Cousin Brucie!

Doesn't he realize that Roger Miller didn't actually exist in the 60's?

Every Sirius FM listener knows that.

Twelve top-40 hits, and five of them were top-ten. If Channel 6 started playing Roger Miller, then the '70s channel might have to play Barbra Streisand, the '80s channel might have to play Whitney Houston, and the '90s channel might have to play Celine Dion. Do we really want Roger Miller's music to set such a dangerous precedent for Sirius XM?

Bruce played "It Must Be Him" tonight. That song was mentioned in 3davids missing songs. It was played in his "magic circle" the top three on this day in 1967. What a great song!

So Brucie plays Roger Miller and Vicki Carr and several other songs that XM6 doesn't play. People enjoy these songs. Simple question:Why not include these songs on the regular siriusxm playlist?

Of course there is no logical answer.

Sure there is. Because of Brucie's status as a legendary NYC DJ he's infallible in his music selection.

Does anyone here really believe any company, esp. Sickius, will restore or imitate XM programming?

The XM culture has been sent packing.

Rosie, Sterno and Mel remain depositing our dollars.

(Would you allow any of these three to babysit your children?)

The XM culture was sent packing a year ago. Zellner is gone, but his influence remains. The gashing of the playlists is not just on the "Decades" channels, but covers multiple channels. And thats always been the Sirius way. The only recourse disgruntled fans have is to cancel their subscriptions.

That, and four others, have just been added to the list. One song that I heard today but did not add was the Singing Dogs' Jingle Bells. The song was written by James Pierpont in 1857 and was originally titled One-Horse Open Sleigh. Pierpont would likely have been outraged to hear the 1955 recording put together by Danish record producer Don Charles from tapes of barking dogs. It was part of a medley on the B-side of Oh Susanna, then was released by itself as an A-side in 1971. Now you know why I didn't put it on the '60s list: neither 1955 nor 1971 were part of the '60s. Yeah, I was quick to figure that out!
