That's the format Sirius has, and always will, use. A lot of XM stations were different back in the day, much more like Pop2k is now. Every song got more or less equal treatment and "top charters" weren't played into the ground ad-nauseum multiple times a day, every day, every month of the year. It made those now burned-out FM hits a lot more enjoyable when you actually heard them. |

Pop2K is still my favorite channel on XM. I listen for hours on end.
There are a few issues, first being there are a lot of songs they could be playing but aren't. Plenty of repeat.
Then there's the DJs. The DJs are great but are they not allowed to say anything other than "traffic and weather on XM channels 210-222"
I memorized the location of the traffic and weather channels just by listening to Pop2K.
I try to have fun with it by turning on the traffic channel for Chicago (the closest city with a traffic channel) before I tune into Pop2K. Then the DJ says "210-222" and I go "YES! I was just there!" |

While they have gone deeper, it seems they've only opened up the on the Rock/Hot AC side of the decade... sometimes sounds like I'm listening to The Pulse... yet the Urban/Pop/Dance sounds of the decade almost remains unchanged on Pop2K. They need to even things out a bit... both Slacker and AOL Radio have a great 2000s hits channel.
And I don't mind the DJs as long as they don't get obnoxious and stay on topic related to the music. |
