| CafeSSJ wrote: | BOSTON -- New York Yankees president Randy Levine fired an executive-level brushback pitch at Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio.
Levine's message: Stop whining.
Levine believes Attanasio should stop publicly lamenting the Brewers' troubles in signing first baseman Prince Fielder while pointing out how much the Yankees spend on salaries.
"I'm sorry that my friend Mark continues to whine about his running the Brewers," Levine told ESPNNewYork.com in a phone interview Tuesday morning. "We play by all the rules and there doesn't seem to be any complaints when teams such as the Brewers receive hundreds of millions of dollars that they get from us in revenue sharing the last few years. Take some of that money that you get from us and use that to sign your players.
"The question that should be asked is: Where has the hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue sharing gone?"
The Yankees' payroll is expected to be about $200 million this year; the Brewers' will be in the $80 million range.
Levine made his comments in reaction to an Attanasio quote in a USA Today story about the average salaries of this year's players. Attanasio -- as he has done before -- made sure to mention the discrepancy in how much the Yankees spend on players in comparison to other teams.
"We're struggling to sign [Fielder] and the Yankees infield is making more than our team," Attanasio told the paper.

After signing Gallardo this week, Brewers are around $90,000,000 payroll. _________________ The Greatest Rock & Roll Hits Of the 20th Century!!!!!

about to lose 6th of 6 games on current homestand.
Starters don't go deep into games & the bullpen is being overworked.
The team is scoring a lot of runs but give up even more.
Quite dissapointing thus far. _________________ The Greatest Rock & Roll Hits Of the 20th Century!!!!!

I know you're not really sorry!!!
You saw Tues aft Hoffman blow yet ANOTHER save. He appears to be done. Bullpen has blow around 8 games so far, just brutal.
Enjoy your Reds, I hope they can beat out the Cards for 1st this season!
Can't see the Brewers digging out of the hole they are now in. Very dissapointing. _________________ The Greatest Rock & Roll Hits Of the 20th Century!!!!!

Not too many things bring a team down more than an unreliable bullpen. Just beat the Cards when you play them this year. _________________ **Cut down south facing tree to receive better XM signal in my house* (2005)

As I predicted, a trip to Pittsburgh proves to be the tonic that gets the Brewers out of their slump. _________________ "Now and then an innocent man is sent to the legislature." - Kin Hubbard |

Thought it was time to revive this thread.
Attended an awesome game 5 Friday. Brewers beat the DBacks in the greatest ballgame I have personally seen live.
I go back to the Milwaukee Braves & have seen an estimated 1000 professional games in Milwaukee.
A closed roof, an energized crowd. Some fabulous plays & high drama in many innings.
Today, Sunday saw the crew beat the Cardinals in the first game on the NLCS.
Braun hit another home run. The guy is on a tear & Fielder also hit one.
Think the series will go 6 or 7 games. Cant see a sweep by either team. They split the season series 9-9.
Hoping for a Brewers world series this year & its very possible! _________________ The Greatest Rock & Roll Hits Of the 20th Century!!!!!

In the words of Nyjer Morgan, "F*** yeah!" I always get a kick out of guys who've played for nothing but really bad teams finally getting their shot at the big prize and the Brewers have a few of them, most notably Morgan and Yuniesky Betancourt.
Too bad a job just opened up for Fielder in Philadelphia. I thought your team really had a shot at re-signing him because the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies were all set at first base, but then Ryan Howard blew out his Achilles... |

thanks guys. Well we lost but it sure was a fun season!
Very interesting off season. Fielder is probably gone. Talk is Hart moving to first & the Brewers pursuing maybe Reyes @ short & a free agent power hitting outfielder.
Drew over 3 million again. The team has some money. Attanasio really wants to win.
I think we'll be a decent team in 2012. _________________ The Greatest Rock & Roll Hits Of the 20th Century!!!!!
