Cinemagic is definitely a unique channel, but could be much better. It's funny, the plug they run on this channel is, "Cinemagic your soundtrack to the movies", but they hardly ever play 'Soundtracks'. Except for Popflix, it's pretty much all score music. IMO if they played more actual soundtracks, it would be much better and more popular and create a lot of buzz.

Please do as Dave Z suggested and contact listener care.

http://www.siriusxm.com/contactus

Tell them how important Cinemagic is to you. Tell them you want it kept on satellite radio. They are a business, but there is still a chance if enough of us speak up, they will see there are more fans than they realize who subscribe because of Cinemagic. Please spread the word before it's gone.

I would advise you to email Scott Greenstein instead of sending an email to Listener Care, which is "read" by outsourced people who will simply reply with a form letter.

Dave Z just sent this out to the Facebook fan group:

Ok everyone, here's the situation. Long story sort of short...As part of the merger agreement, SiriusXM is supposed to carry a certain number of minority owned channels. The FCC approved the channels and the company is slowly instituting them. Bandwidth is an issue and certain channels needed to be dropped to make room for them and unfortunately Cinemagic was one such channel. I was told of the news last week and to be honest it hasn't really sunk in just yet. That being said, the channel isn't going away completely as it will still remain on the online version of SiriusXM as well as the mobile apps. In addition, at this time a few shows will migrate over to other channels such as Reel Time being featured on Stars Too. If you want to express your opinions of this decision, feel free to contact listener care to let the powers that be know how you feel. I'm sorry to bring you this news. It's been killing me for the past week because the channel has been a labor of love for me for the past 10 or so years and even though it's not going away completely, it still is a radical change since it will no longer be on the satellite side of programming. It's been an honor to bring you this channel and a thrill of a lifetime to know how many of you feel about it.

Sincerely, Dave Z

Hey sonicbryen, can you post a link for his facebook page-I can't find it.

Disappointing news that Cinemagic is leaving the satellites. Channels like this one makes XM unique. I've enjoyed listening to it. I also have fond memories of Dave Z mentioning my name on-air for a request I made a few years ago when XM was XM....not Sirius XM.

This channel was one of the reasons why I chose XM over Sirius to begin with.

I guess I am now down to about two channels that keep me (barely) as a subscriber: Symphony Hall and Pops. I'm sure the new channels will be of great interest to me...

Yikes, if they're dropping Cinemagic imagine all the other channels that may or may not me on the chopping block for bandwidth

Anybody hear of any others that may be going internet only? If they drop Pop2K I'll immediately cancel the XM

Hockey and basketball are now over, so that frees up bandwidth. There may not be an NFL season this year, so that would free up space temporarily in the fall.

If they want to free up bandwith, SXM should get rid of the crappy traffic / weather channels that nobody listens to. That should free up 9 channels, so they can save Cinemagic and bring back the Strobe and other XM Channels that we lost in the last 2 years.

That won't free up 9 channels. Those 9 T&W channels combined use about the same bandwidth as 1 channel. They are extremely low bitrate.

**Sighs**
What's next? The Groove? The Village?

I wished they got rid of the Clear Channel music stations once and for all - but it seems they'll ALWAYS be there as long as satellite radio exists.
