It's no surprise that the Red Sox are ranked last. I could have put them at the bottom solely by looking at the won/lost
record of each team. And, unlike Sports Illustrated's rankings, mine didn't take more than a few seconds of time and are
every bit as accurate.

By the way, that #9 team, the Angels, is not in Los Angeles.

Good news for southern California's sugar-and-caffeine addicts and those who can't understand why so many people can't watch a ballgame without drinking lots of beer: The Dodgers were planning to have "Half-Price Beer Day" at six midweek games this season, but Frank McCourt has now decided that maybe that isn't a good idea; the stadium will instead sell half-price soda.

I haven't met the "entire USA"---do they also believe that the New York Giants are really in New York?

WHTZ-100.3 (Z100) bills itself as "New York's Hit Radio Station." The station is in the same state where the "New York" Giants play. Why can't New Yorkers let New Jersey claim anything for its own? I'm surprised they didn't force Bruce Springsteen to change his album title to Greetings From Long Island, New York!

FACTS you might not know ....

First of all, if you lived here, you would know that most people don't like to admit being from NJ. (Apologies to Huff and Deci)

Also, you forgot about the NJ Nets and the NJ Devils.

New Meadowlands Stadium, home to the Jets and Giants is about 5 or 6 miles from the Lincoln Tunnel.

In 1998, after KRTH morning man Robert W. Morgan died of lung cancer, one of the DJs that auditioned to take his place was legendary New York jock Dan Ingram. He didn't get the job. They hired Seattle DJ Gary Bryan.

There ya go!

Had he been drinking Coors beer? That's my guess!

Fan dies after fall at Coors Field
Associated Press, May 26 2011

A 27-year-old man who fell about 20 feet and struck his head on concrete during the seventh inning of a Colorado Rockies game has been declared dead.

Witnesses told police that the man had been trying to slide down a staircase railing at Coors Field and lost his balance during the May 24 game between the Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Denver coroner's office identified the man as Robert Seamans of Pueblo. The father of Seamans' girlfriend, Larry Elliott, told The Denver Post that Seamans was declared brain dead about 12 hours after the incident. A transplant team was called in to harvest his organs.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity on these MLB threads lately, which is a shame since there's no shortage of baseball topics to kick around right now.
