Mitch,
Very good work!
Please
Now that you have it working, is this the right pin outs on the tin can and the connections to the DIT4096?
1-GND
2-5V
3-5V
4-GND
5-5V
6-LRCLK or SYNC (44.1mhz) goes to pin 12 of DIT4096
7-SDATA (this is the audio) goes to pin 13 of DIT4096
8-BCLK or SCLK (2.8mhz) goes to pin 11 of DIT4096
9-MCLK (16.9Mhz) goes to pin 6 of DIT4096
10-Turn on indication (This pin is high when the metal can is turned on, it drives an LED)
11-N/C
12-N/C
13-N/C
14-Turn on signal or enable signal. I believe when this is high, it's turned on.
15-TX
16-RX
17-GND
18-N/C
19-N/C
20-N/C
21-N/C
22-GND
23-SAT ANT
24-GND
25-Some sort of output. Labeled TP13 on XMPCR <http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=directpcr>.
26-GND
27-5V
28-GND
29-TER ANT
30-GND
Thanks,
Don B

Yes, I'd like the PCB design and the schematic if possible as I came across ekeefe's old post but as you already pointed out the schematic is no longer there.
Thank you,
Z (who hopes to have a Optical out on his SkyFi soon). |

OK, im done with the pcb design
now i was thinking of having a few made, ofcourse it costs me money, that i need to recoupe... im so free or close to free stuff...
if i run the board, and sell the complete product, i could easily sell if for $50 and under cut every slut on ebay selling the other guys for > $125
i would like to make some $$ of course... now what i think i will do
is provide the board/schematic here and people who want to make em themselves can, i will also offer the PCB unpopulated for < $20 each... i will also offer some completed units for $35
i need someone to tell me the xmfan's policy on this... can i make a post offering the product, i want to be sure im not compeating in a area that affects xmfan.
If its ok, ill make a post... if i get enough people to want boards, ill run them, they are already submitted to the board house, i just need to say go! and in 1 week we got boards....
i will post the pcb in gerber, if you dont know how to view gerber, there are plenty of freebe ones
http://www.pentalogix.com/Products/ViewMate/register.cfm
before i post anything... please someone inform me of xmfans policies...
thanks guys

It's generally frowned upon to promote your products here. I'd recommend that you ask Ryan, as it's ultimately his decision. _________________ Classic Vinyl/Classic Rewind: Why have one great channel when you can have two crappy ones instead?

Ok, so is what Don B posted above correct?
Is the following schematic good (http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=10295)?
Forgive me but I am technically inept. I can follow a schematic and build a component just don't ask me why or how it works.
I'm not concerned to much with the PCB layout as trying to fit it in a SkyFi I know I'll have to make some custom layout work to fit things the way I want. I just want to be sure the schematic is right so I can buy start planning and putting things together.
Thanks. |

Yes, I have every reason to think Codeskull's schematic is correct if you jumper those lines to the corresponding locations on the tincan. I haven't checked every connection against the data sheet, but it all looks pretty sensible. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to check that all those connections are sane, and I'd recommend you do so before building the thing.
His PCB layout leaves something to be desired of course. The SkyFi requires an odd shaped board, some jumper wires, or something to get the optical port at an accessible location and angle. |
