I know that this is a very specific question but the print media does a lousy job of covering radio. Does anyone know what happened to Van Earl? At first it seemed he had been on vacation but now it seems that David Stein is now permanently in place. Thanks!

I didn't realize this. I haven't listened to the show for a while. Perhaps they realized that Wright is a loud mouthed POS and replaced him.

I just hope they take JT the Brick off the air next.

At least Stein is entertaning (as long as we don't have to listen to those stupid poker minutes ) he was pretty good when filling in for Czaben while he was on vacation.

Czaban is a moron - an aardvark would be good filling in for him.

That is your opinion, I happen to enjoy his show. Just wish the second hour of Kornheiser's show didn't overlap with the first hr of the rebrodcast of the first team.

My hope is that Czabe mentions the "magic radio" too many times and XM snaps him up for an XM-only show. He's one of those terrestrial radio people who'd be good on satellite radio. Not everyone could.

JT The Brick is an annoying Rome-clone (and the original is bad enough), and the callers are morons. If I had my own sports talk show, I'd hang up on anyone who called a team they themselves were not a member of "we" immediately. That would get rid of about 90% of the yammering dopes on "The Brick" (god, what a stupid name)'s show.

JT's whole show is fiction. He even admits it. I was reading a book a while ago about sports talk radio, and he was one of the guys interviewed. He said that the person he is on the air, and the person he is off the air are two different people. He admits his whole "schtick" thing is an act, that he's a loud mouth on purpose because of the audience he's catering to. I think during the football season, even though I think half the callers are morons, his show is somewhat enjoyable to listen to. He prides himself on "taking callers" and that's fine if the callers are bringing the goods. But when they're not, it's boring. There's only so much of my Dad can beat up your Dad you can listen to, and that's not very enlightening.

A great example of an enlightening audience is a sports radio station out of Chicago, 670 AM The Score. Those are fun call-in shows because the fans "get it", in that they pick up on things that maybe the host doesn't. They'll say, "Did you notice the other night that...." or something and make a point about something that you didn't notice during the game, or maybe you DID notice. Then you pat yourself on that back when you realize you weren't the only one who noticed this or that. Those callers are providing the LISTENERS with great info, and that makes for great radio. A show like JT the Brick, there's nothing but, "Here's why my Broncos are gonna beat your Raiders, JT." That's boring radio.

Ditto on the pro czaban comments.

He is what sports talk radio should be.

With all of the changes to programming (sports going to sirius), he and kornheiser are actually the two things that are keeping me with xm. That, and the fact that sirius has nothing to rival the myfi.

Czaban, G. Gordon, and Dr. Laura - ain't talk radio great Exclamation

Between the three of them, we may be pushing 50 on the IQ meter.

The IQ average is even less if you add all of the kooks from Err Anti-America.

I like David Stein. I hope he is Van Earl's permanent replacement.

Has anyone else noticed that the XM display says "Andrew & Krystal"?
