Don and Mike we on 152 earlier today!
I heard Don from Orlando Call in to the Monsters of the Midday, then later on some guy named Mike from Macon GA called in too. _________________ Scott

I follow radio in the DC area, and it looks like Don & Mike are trying to go more local. They are thinking of dropping their syndication and are vocal about it on their show. I live near DC so I get the mighty WJFK and personally would love the more local angle. You can check out more on the story through http://www.dcrtv.net _________________ ~Td~

I've must of emailed Xm about getting Don&Mike for awhile now, you'd think with D&M and XM headquarters both in Wash. DC that it would make sense to get them instead of all these Orlando shows. I guess it has to do with D&M's Westwood One contract. They are funnier and less "jive" than most of the shows XM 152 puts on. If anything, get rid of that Floorwax show, its by far THE worst show on the lineup.
XM.... get the DON & MIKE show, Ron & Fez too!
It's suppose to be EXTREME! I hate the monsters or any show with the fake laughter, just bad radio! |

Maybe the lack of Syndication would bring Don and Mike back to what they used to be before their national fame. I used to love listening to them in their early days at WJFK, and even before they moved to WJFK (WAVA, I believe, but that's a while ago now). But their show went downhill as it seemed to gain fame, and I just couldn't stand it anymore.
I might have to start checking them out again. Man, to think, a reason to turn off my XM...

Don & Mike originate from WJFK-FM in DC, which is a CBS/Infinity station. Could that have something to do with XM not having D&M, since XM has a lot of ClearChannel stuff? I can think of one station that is ClearChannel owned that carries D&M, 96 Rock in Ocean City, MD. But thats probably a syndication deal there.
I would like to hear D&M on XM 152, but I think the likelyhood is that they are too local of a show to carry. They carry a following in the DC area from their "Power 105 WAVA" days. I know I have heard some complaints from XM talk listeners that shows syndicated from Los Angelos are too local (or is that Florida?). Thats what Don & Mike is, and from what I understand thats why they didn't do too well on New Yorks WNEW.

Exactly. CBS/Infinity/WW1 haven't yet done satellite radio, though oddly enough, another Viacom subsidiary has (VH1, of course). |

Well why dont they get off their asses and get Don and Mike on XM Radio already. We should have some "good" radio for a change. |

Because XM talk radio sucks. Get used to it!!!
They don't have the $$$$ that Westwood One or ABC or those other companies have so any talk show that ever became popular on XM would get stolen to AM/FM!! And Clear Channel, XM's programming partner, is cheap as s@it so they will never pay the price needed for the cool shows!!! Most of XM's talk DJ's don't even get paid at all. They get change from CC for being on their AM/FM stations but nothing more for being on XM.
That's why XM talk sucks. XM gets what it pays for. |

What about Elliot In The Morning? He's Clear Channel...only syndicated on like 3 stations too I think.
Well, except http://www.dcrtv.net says that his show out of DC might be no more depending on what the new PD does. Might be the best time to get him. *shrugs* |

Don and Mike aren't "thinking" of dropping syndication, it's being dropped for them.
They were just fired in Philly because of abyssmal ratings, and the word is, that's the case in most of their markets.
They're just spinning their failure. XM would be worse for adding them. |

Welp, here is the list of who SHOULD be affiliates: http://www.radiogodsforum.com/affiliates.htm (none of them in AR unfortunately), however, the main page says
"9/2/03 - Yes, Don and Mike are LIVE today on 106.7 WJFK ONLY.
Syndication is on hold, and possibly dropped. There is NO information as to
when the show will return live to ANY other stations.
OK, the story gets even weirder.. Apparently one Dennis Murphy has accidentally left
his phone off the hook next to a radio, and was speaking with someone at KCJJ
in Iowa City, who apparently forgot to hang up THEIR phone, and
are accidentally rebroadcasting the show to their listeners. All accidental, no doubt."
Hopefully this site will give you a taste of what the show is all about: http://www.thedonandmikeshow.com |

| IIRC, Westwood One has publicly stated that they will not be a part of satellite radio, mostly to placate their terrestrial subscribers. |
