Forgotten 45s: Playing the long lost classics of the 50's, 60's and early 70's

Thanks for that link! I like what I've been hearing over the last several hours. Not five minutes into listening, I had my first "oh, wow!" moment: the theme song Bob E. Bitman was using to open and close each hour (at about twelve past, actually) was "The Grind," a 1964 Twin Cities instrumental hit by locals Gregory Dee & The Avanties. Now there's one you don't hear every day. Okay any day. It wasn't even more than thirty seconds' worth of the record, but that still didn't detract from the surprise factor.

But there was a real XM "oh, wow!" moment a few minutes ago, when I realized that I was hearing Betty Everett's version of "You're No Good" for the first time since the demise of the old XM. That, in turn, triggered the memory of the female caller who used to call Phlash all the time to request it, and she'd always sing the hook as "you're so good, you're so good..." She was from Bunnell, Florida, but I don't recall her name. Anybody remember?

The Retro Attic - 50s To 80s Forgotten Oldies: Whether they were horrid to listen to or they should have been classics, we play those seldom-heard Billboard Hot 100 oldies from the 50's through the 80's that most stations these days would rather pretend never existed. Occasional commentary, hourly sweepers, year jingles, and vintage commercials are mixed in. We're rookies, but be patient; we're only getting better! Coming soon will be theme-based shows and more sophisticated, customized jingles. From Trade Martin to Mesa to Sneaker to The Schoolboys...we have it all!

I too, am very impressed with Accuradiol. They seem to go very deep with all of their playlists including Classic Soul - R&B

"The music of the 1950s and 1960s lives again here on MusicMaster Online Worldwide! Hear the big hits, little hits, songs that should have been hits, songs that helped create rock and roll, and lots of other surprises. We play EVERY charted song from 1954 through 1972, plus an equal number of great non-charted songs from those years, plus the biggest hits from 1973, plus some interesting music from before 1954 that influenced the creation of rock and roll music. You'll hear a lot of really rare and collectible records here, too. Some of the records we play are so rare that only one or two are known to exist. Listen for an hour and you'll likely hear thousands of dollars worth of music. You'll hear a mix of genres here, from early country and rockabilly, pop, early rock and roll, garage rock, surf music, teeners, and hard rock. The genre mix means that you'll hear the music of this exciting era in the same context the songs were played on the radio back then - before radio specialized into individual genres. You'll also hear hits from all over the world, like Europe, Asia, and Australia, as well as the United States. It's all here! We guarantee you'll hear songs you HATE - but you'll also hear songs you LOVE - along with some new favorites you've never heard before!"

That link for forgotten 45's is awesome. I added it to my wifi radio! Nice to hear something besides that damned "Mashed Potato Time" by Dee Dee Sharp. She had several other hits including three top 10 ones like "Gravy" "Ride" and "Do The Bird" as well as a top 40 hit with "Rock Me in The Cradle of Love". Hell, on most oldies stations if it isn't the Beatles, Stones, or Elvis it is a one hit wonder as far as they are concerned.

Just The 80's Hits:

This is a great all 80's station. I heard in a row:

"Missing You" by Dan Fogelberg
"Breakdance" by Irene Cara.
"Is It Love" by Mister Mister
