This week’s Friday Night Cat Fight Podcast features a song that was a flicker in time. Back in late, 1950, no less than 6 artists charted with versions of the Louis Prima penned song, “Oh, Babe!.” Many of them charted on the rhythm and blues side of things, but Kay Starr and Prima himself had hits with the tune on the pop lists. Since 1950 and 1951, this song has faded from the public’s musical consciousness, but now it returns thanks to the Friday Night Cat Fight Podcast with Matt The Cat.

You don't need to dust off the old shortwave, VOA programming can be heard right over the internet either at the time of broadcast or from previous broadcast.
The trick now is to figure out just what is the identity of the program Matt is to be on. VOA has about the worse breakdown of who is where and when imaginable. Will Matt be using his own name or is he forced to use an alias from the exit deal with SiriusXM?

A quick glance at their web site does not reveal any SW frequencies, but then I could have missed it (them) given the web site only makes about half good sense in the way it is organized.

| "Juke In The Back" airs each week on Saturday Nights in Central Europe at Midnight (6pm EST in the US) and Sundays at 10pm (4pm EST in the US). The show also airs at various times in Asia, Latin America and Africa. Matt says that he's gotten some great feedback from around the world. VOA doesn't air it on shortwave. You can listen online at http://www.voanews.com/english/programs/radio/64964082.html and there are apps for both Android and iPhones that allow you to hear VOA over your mobile phone. |

Matt The Cat
OUT EARLY! Johnny Otis died last Tuesday, the 17th, so I wanted to get my "Juke In The Back" tribute to Otis out as fast as I could. Here it is, covering some of his best records from 1945-1958. He was one of the all-time greats and no radio can truly do Johnny Otis justice, but I tried my best.

Johnny Otis was one of the most important figures in rhythm & blues and contributed greatly to the birth of rock n' roll. He passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 and this week's "Juke In The Back" pays tribute to his legacy. |
