That page is way too cluttered to use as a homepage. I like google.com because it's clean and simple.

cnn.com? There's way more than 8 little boxes on that page. It's a long page filled with flash banner ads everywhere. I don't want my homepage to take 5 seconds to load.

Nope, they "fixed" it about halfway through the day, but the first half of the day regardless of the browser it would auto-play.

I never had that problem. You didn't have the right plugins.

You need to upgrade! 
With the latest versions of IE, you can install plugins, yes. My favorite things are flashblock and Adblock. IE allows you to systemically block flash, without additional plugins. May want to google it for whichever version you have.
