This show is back. After the merger this show was discontinued, but Pat St John has brought it back- good 30 minute program. 
Weekdays 11 pm ET
Pat St. John is passionate about this nightly set of The Rockers Doin’ The Blues. From the early days when The Animals covered John Lee Hooker, right up to ZZ Top jammin' the blues today, this is an A to Z library of artists known for rock 'n' roll, who pay their respects to "where it all came from," the blues. Each weeknight, Pat plays tunes from the likes of The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, and The Rolling Stones, to Robert Plant, Joe Cocker, and Aerosmith, as they pour their hearts into the music which influenced them immensely - and as you will hear - they truly love. Don't let the rock stars fool you - this is some SIRIUS Blues! (30 min) |

This show is really good. I've been listening to it off an on. When it is finished, jump over to Deep Tracks for Bill Fitzhugh's Hand Mixed Vinyl, another great show.
BTW, I think Rockers Doin the Blues is actually one hour... |

| No, it's just 30 minutes- used to be 1 hour before the merger. Info on Sirius Bluesville website has not been updated since then. |

Great show last night. In honor of V-Day, every song had the word heart in it. Very cool.

Pat St. John has got be be considered the best DJ on XM. He announced that the Beach Boys were played for the first time ever on Bluesville Wednesday night during this show.

What a great show this is. He gives interesting tid bits of the songs and/or artists. This show always seems to have a "wow" moment each night.

As long as Meg Griffin is still on the air, then PSJ will only be the second worst DJ on XM. I try to avoid all of their airshifts on all channels.

Marvin Gaye is NOT a Rocker. Purple Haze is not a Blues song.

The Jefferson Airplane song is lovely, but it's about as far from blues as you can get. I think it gets played more on The Village than anywhere else. It features a flute or recorder -- when's the last time you heard one of those in a blues tune?
I get the presidential connection in all these songs, but this sounds like a set Pat should have put together for his Deep Tracks show, not Bluesville. I mean, he might as well have played something by Joe Jackson or Bryan Adams.
Oh, and there were two presidents in "Abraham, Martin and John." Three, if you think Martin referred to Van Buren!

For someone who can't stand Pat St John, you sure seem to be interested in what he plays on this show. Not many channels on SXM let DJ's play anything outside of their regular playlists( excluding Jim Norton on the Boneyard)- let him play what he wants- some of us love this show because of that. If you want to get technical about this, Blues is actually the root for all music we listen to today- Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Motown, Disco and practically everything else. The Blues music of the 40's- 60's was the biggest influence for the British Invasion in the 60's which, in turn, influenced everything after that. |

Hey Mike, Thanks for your in-depth Blues history lesson. You can get technical about the Blues if you would like but I'm not.
And yes, I think PSJ sucks. But I've thought that for the last 30 years when I only heard him on FM. And now his show sucks on SXM on the 50's, Bluesville, and DT. Just my opinion.
Robert Randolph doing Purple Haze is not a Rocker doing the Blues. If anything its closer to a Blues guy doing a Rock song.
I've said before I think the show is out of place on Bluesville. If I was a big Blues fan, I wouldn't want to hear this show on my Blue channel. I think this type of show is much better suited to DT.
And again, Marvin Gaye is NOT a Rocker. Surely, you are not saying that he is?
