I saw this @ Outlaw Country, so not sure if it belongs in the Country, Rock or Blues category!
ZZ Top Readies New Texicali EP For Release Next Week
Our long national nightmare is over: ZZ Top is finally releasing new music next Tuesday, June 5. Their Texicali EP will include four tracks off their upcoming Rick Rubin-produced album, which as of right now, still has no official title.
"I Gotsta Get Paid," "Chartreuse," "Over You" and "Consumption" constitute the EP, which will stream on Rolling Stone's site Monday, and will hit digital outlets the next day. We already heard "Paid" on that amazing Jeremiah Weed clip a few weeks ago.
The demand for new ZZ music has been palpable, and not just around these parts. This may lead to Rubin and the band to shove some more new music out the door, probably to shut us all the hell up. Sorry guys.
This is all great news, since this now means that by the end of the year we will have had a new ZZ Top album just in time for the apocalypse, or something like that.
A quick reminder: the group's previously announced gig at the Woodlands with 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson was quietly canceled a few weeks back. (3 Doors Down is still playing Bayou Music Center June 23.)
As their long-suffering publicist put it, the band wanted to take a step back from coming back to their home turf so soon after the RodeoHouston gig, but he didn't rule out a massive Houston gig to coincide with the release of the full LP in the fall.
As always, keep your fingers crossed and your hands firmly clutching your ZZ keychain. Like I am. http://http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/2012/05/zz_top_readies_new_ep_texicali.php |

First new ZZ Top music in nine years comes out digitally next week
The first new music in nine years from “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” will be digitally released by American Recordings next Tuesday (June 5) as Texicali--a four-song ZZ Top set that will be issued physically on the legendary Texas trio’s long-awaited forthcoming album.
One of the songs, “I Gotsta Get Paid,” premieres today on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country Channel during Mojo Nixon’s Loon In The Afternoon show. It will be the first play of the full-length version of the song, part of which has been heard already in the band’s campaign on behalf of the Jeremiah Weed line of flavored malt beverages.
Outlaw Country and Nixon will then program a continuing series of reports from the road from ZZ Top’s guitarist/vocalist Billy F Gibbons, who will call in his “Road Reports” from stops on the band’s Gang Of Outlaws tour, which includes 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson and comes tonight to the Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. The “I Gotsta Get Paid” premiere will immediately follow tonight’s initial report.

Great new song played last night at about 6:10 'Chartreuse'
Only thing is you have to put up w/Mojo for a few minutes. Interesting that it showed album art- never seen it on a brand new song before. Report tonight about 30 minutes from my house.
Reverend Billy F. Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top send word out from the road and premiere another song from their new "Texicali" EP on today's "Gang of Outlaws" tour report direct from Simpsonville, S.C. during the Mojo Nixon show 6 pm ET.
