Whitney Houston had ten top-10 songs in the 1980s. Seven of them went to # 1.
Sirius FM's 80s on 8 channel, played only 2 of her songs. A total of 5 times a week. Approximately half of the times "Mickey" gets played a week.
I suspect that will change now. Sirius' philosophy is, an artist's music sounds better, and is more worthy of airplay when said artist is dead.
(As we learned when Michael Jackson died too)
As soon as one of the hack MTV relic voice-trackers can crank out some new material, we'll hear what a major artist Whitney was in the 80s. Despite the fact they wouldn't play her music until now. |

One of the worst remakes of a good song was Whitney's whiny ear-piercing version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You...and it became her biggest hit. Go figure!

Mister paja, you don't know that Whitney was using crack. There could be many reasons why she was scrawny and emaciated and woozy and disoriented and had to cancel the second night she was supposed to perform at the recent Michael Jackson tribute concert at Madison Square Garden.
Offhand, though, I can't think of any other reasons. |

But as usual, the 80s channel voice trackers, sometime during the next few days, will get "up to date" and tell us what an important artist she was during the 80s.
Despite the fact they didn't play her music on the 80s channel while she was alive.
I shouldn't leave out the 90s channel by the way (although most listeners do). She had 12 top-10 hits in the 90s. That fine channel has played ONE of them, ONE time during the past 3 weeks.
I'm sure their tribute will begin soon as well. Because, of course, she was an important artist loved by listeners and buyers. Just not good enough to get airplay on Sirius FM's decade channels. Well, while she was alive anyway. Her music sounds better now. |

I sincerely hope that the plays of Whiney do not increase because of her death. *cringe* at the thought that they will. _________________ XM subscriber since 2005/12/05:- Pioneer Airware (LIFE, wife)

| And when they do, little skiing fella, just push the button. You've got a couple hundred channels. Find one with something you like. |

But even hearing that 2-3 seconds of painful screeching will forever taint my soul. _________________ XM subscriber since 2005/12/05:- Pioneer Airware (LIFE, wife)

The PD at the 80s channel has quietly sneaked in 2 Whitney songs (both # 1's ) overnight that haven't played on that channel in years.
"Greatest Love of All" and "How Will I Know."
NOW, they're worthy of airplay.

Agree 100%. Hate that song. Her voice is like a knife through my skull. _________________ 2010 Poster of the Year!

To "Idratherbeskiing," "daver40" and "Thomps2525": Have you no respect for the dead? Idratherbeskiing, you even misspelled Whitney's name! You left out the T! You've also insulted my personal tastes, you three bad apples. I love most of Whitney Houston's songs.
To "3david" and "blevins1491": Agree with you 100%. Whitney should have been played before her death, not just after her death. _________________ 'Magic' Matt Alan is a great DJ. |

Respect for the dead? How about respect for the living? Respect for the starving children she could have fed with her millions, instead of smoking, injecting, or snorting it? I'm tired of hearing of these poor beset upon millionaires and their "pain". Millions with far more to deal with then her struggle every day to remain alive and she tossed her gift, her wealth. and finally her life, away. There are three pages of obituaries in my local paper today. They all are far more deserving of my sympathy than Whitney.
If you don't want your "personal tastes insulted", my advice to you is to stay off the internet. _________________ 2010 Poster of the Year!
