While listening to the Big 80s MTV Relic countdown, Nina Blackwood managed to talk over the entire, fantastic, 33-second intro of "Jane" by Jefferson Starship.

Of course, Nina talking on the radio at all, is painful enough. But why in the hell is she allowed to mangle one of the best intros of the entire decade? There should be legal repercussions.

Agreed, 110%. I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard.

I think fingernails or whiney houston would be slightly worse than Nina.

I am surprised they actually played Jane. I have never been lucky enough to hear it on the 80s channel. Must be my time of listening.

Oh you manage to sneak in a Whitney Houston crack in a thread that had nothing to do with her. Just full of love, happy valentines day.......

Idratherbeskiing, you don't even spell Whitney's name correctly. As I said before in another thread, have you no respect for the dead?

You haven't capitalized IdRatherBeSkiing's name correctly. Have you no respect?

One thing I do not recommend: don't listen to the Big 80s countdown on your computer with a good set of earbuds. You can hear Nina's wheeze way too clearly. Very distracting.

Also, it's fun to read along with the Relics as they give "facts" about each artist, right off Wikipedia. Some of it might even be sort of accurate.

The 1980 countdown featured about 30 songs that are never played on the Sirius 80s channel. It's the best that the 80s channel has sounded in a long time.

There was a great blooper from Martha Quinn, who referred to her friend Spider Harrison on the 70s channel. Except he calls himself "JJ Walker" for some strange reason on the 70s channel.

I guess Martha doesn't listen to the 70s channel. Can't say that I blame her.

Can Martha start programming the 80s channel? She started the countdown by rhapsodizing about how much fun it is to rediscover more obscure or less remembered songs from lower in the chart (what she calls the "basement".)

I believe she was talking about J.J. Jackson- not JJ Walker- one of the original MTV DJ's that passed away in 2004.

You'd "pump" Nina Blackwood? Have you seen her lately? There's a reason all the photos they use are from the 1980s.

I saw her on the video of the 30th anniversary of MTV and she didn't look that bad. I have seen the other one attributed to her and those 2 don't compute.
