It should work just fine. I have done this with the wireless FM transmitter. No reason the wired version would be any different. I took this idea one step further. Why unplug anything?
I went to Radio Shack and purchased a headphone Y-adapter and plug it in. One plug goes into my XM, and the other hung free. That way if I wanted to listen to my radio, I simply turned it on. If I wanted to listen to my Ipod, I just plugged it in to the free plug.
Here is a picture of what it would look like:

Hope this helps. _________________ They say you’ll never love another

Thanks for the reply. That looks great, but the Skyfi (the model before the Roady) FM Mod plugs into the Delphi XM receiver with a non RCA male plug. If I got a Y plug, and plugged the FM mod in, would the red RCA fit in the XM Receiver?
Thank you! |

I have a wired FM modulator. I connect my new Ipod to it last night and there is nothing coming out of the speakers. I suspect that there needs to be a load on the 6V connector to switch the fm modulator on and disconnect the regular FM car antenna from the circuit. Is this a valid assumption? Any electronic experts out there?
I wonder if a simple resistor across the 6V would provide the load to activate the wired FM modulator?
Thanks,
Terry |
