I bought my XM Radio using the "Opie & Anthony" deal Very Happy that was made available. Now, I know that I don't "technically" qualify for the $30 Mail-In Rebate, currently being offered, however, I looked at the Rebate Form and I wondered if I could still get the refund... Question

The Rebate consists of:

1.) Filling Out The Form (No Problem) Wink
2.) Sending In Original UPCs (No Problem) Wink
3.) COPIES of Receipts (Can't I just purchase these items from a local store, copy the receipts, return the items, and now have copies of receipts from my purchases?) Twisted Evil

That seems to be no problem, however, the Rebate Form asks for my XM Radio ID Number. Confused Are they going to see that my XM Radio ID Number did not come from Best Buy, but came from XM Radio directly? Laughing Or, are they just looking to see that I, in fact, am the true registrant of this XM Radio?

Please post your insight - thank you... Smile

Um...I think there might be some ethical issues there. ;D
Especially considering the low cost of the O&A deal (like XM probably subsidizes the unit for that deal).

That aside, I doubt they cross-reference the radio ID (the rebate is probably handled by a 3rd party). If you were to do it anyways, it would save alot of people alot of trouble just to get a copy of someone elses receipt (or if you are going to do something this crooked anyways, just to make your own, which wouldn't be too hard if they just want a copy). I'm not sure what happens to returned items, if the retailer or manufacturer ultimately loses out, or if they are just resold at full price. Definately not cool though if someone else has to take a hit.

Anywho, doing something like that is just plain wrong Razz

That may be true - but XM is making a bundle off of me (not to mention the addition charge for "O & A" - so, I really don't care).
Twisted Evil

Thanks again...

What about the FM Modulator I bought, the monthly fee for XM, & the additional cost of listening to Opie & Anthony???

You're amazing, what makes you any different than me or anyone else who bought the equipment (or extra equipment like the FM Mod)? I've got a Roady and a Roady 2 and a FM mod (that I bought) and I pay $9.99 + $6.99 a month for subscriptions, plus I paid to activate both radios, yet I'm not claiming to be spending a bundle on XM, because I'm not and neither are you. You're just trying to justify cheating a company and getting something for free. If the finincial burden is to much for you maybe you should not have XM. As I stated above by doing this you are proving nothing more than you are a sad, sad person, and when they deny your rebate or it is delayed you'll be here complaining about it. Bet you can't wait until someone comes out with a hack so you can get XM for free, huh? Rolling Eyes

Settle Down Exclamation

I am not cheating anyone of anything. How about, I got a deal from the company because of their new "Opie & Anthony" Promotion - and I am purchasing things that qualify for a rebate? Idea

Idea Cheating is when you are supposed to give something to someone and you don't give it to them. XM is asking me for rebate forms if I purchase the qualifying items. If I did NOT give them my rebate information, I would be cheating them of something that they want... Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

Doesn't the rebate form say something along the lines of "cannot be used with any other special offers, discounts, etc"? That's pretty standard rebate form verbiage. Seems to me that the O&A deal counts as a "special offer". So if you're trying to find a way to circumvent that then, yeah, it does sound like cheating.

So now you are trying to back away from your original post???

Dan, come on now. You already got your XM hardware with the O&A deal. Thats a great buy. You will also get the first month of O&A for free. So now you will go through all of the hassle of buying the same hardware, and then going back the next day and returning it just so you can have the receipts. Seems like alot of work for $30. Why be that greedy?

I'm with Happy Buddhist.

If you really feel like XM is cheating you, then by all means cancel your service and return all your equipment immediately. I wouldn't want to have that on my conscience. Rolling Eyes

At the very least, please don't use this board to learn how to cheat the system.

Thanks.

That made me laugh!

You are indeed one sad, sad little boy. This is a forum for big people, so why don't you head on back to the living room and watch Blue's Clue's and we'll bring you a juice box when we're done talking about grown up stuff.
