|

I'm not clear on what the maps depict.
Are these separate maps for Rock and Roll, and do both satellites have their strongest signals on the East and West Coasts, rather than in the center of the country? Or do the maps show the combined signal from both satellites when viewed from different angles?
Also, I notice that the signal is stronger along the Canadian border than in the far south of the U.S. Are people in places like Key West, Florida, going to have more trouble picking up a signal, or is this made up for by the satellites being higher in the sky there? |

| I too am also very unclear how to read this map. What does the dark red mean? A Stronger signal? Usually when looking at a weather map on the local news channels. The Red means strong thunderstorms and the green means light storms. I am assuming this? or am I way off? Does this mean if you live in a Dark Red area you are going to get a stronger signal from XM than someone who lives in say a yellow or green area? |

Below is a link that leads to a calculator that converts decible watts (dBW) into watts (W) and vice versa. Hopefully, the calculator will give you a better understanding of the signal strength in your area.

Thanks for that link! It makes reading those footprints a bit easier _________________ Planned obsolescence. Yeah, that was a smart idea. |

well I'm in Central America and was wondering if anyone has footprint maps that show full hemisphere coverage and how the signal is down at 15 degrees north.
Has anyone bought a radio, activated it and then taken it south(way south!)? TIA for any replies. |
