I'd give this some thought if I were you....

First the Antenna leads are different from the ones we are using now (on new radio's) so they may or may not work on yours....

Thb big problem is all of the work you are going to have to do to replace that Head unit...

First off tell us more aobut ypur new Truck.....

Chevy or GMC? Full Size or Mid size...Onstar?

Hi, I will be getting a GMC Sierra CrewCab with Onstar.

I dont really care for onstar but all of the trucks with bucket seats come with onstar. I know by removing the factory headunit I will be losing Onstar and I think the door chimes, all of that does not bother me.

My goal is to use my Alpine 9835 with the factory GM XM antenna. I pray that the antenna connections are not different. Do you know what brand makes the antenna GM uses???

The GM antennas are dual lead, with different end connectors on them.

Anything can be done, you may be able to get it to work with some modifications to the ends.

yes the TUA-T020XM can be used with the cda-9835 and the GM dual lead antenna. you would have to have a tuner box anyway as the 9835 is only SAT ready meaning it does not get XM by itself only the cda-9820xm has a built in tuner.

What is yor reason for wanting to change out the headunit?

I did not see Bose on your list of whats on your truck.....Does it have Factory XM ( I would guess so or it would not have the antenna!) If you do have XM, I'd look at keeping the factory head unit and xm ...you can add amps and change speakers if you need to....your onstar will work as will your chimes....you know they are not only door chimes...overheating....low oil pressure....ect.

As they add more and more function to head units we will change our thinking on how we improve sound....on the next gen trucks (2007) The radio controls also have the HVAC control in them....

You know the main reason to change the headunit was to add amps & a subwoofer and use my ipod. Its done very easily with my alpine headunit.

I wasnt aware you can add amps and a sub to a factory headunit. Is it done easliy????

I also found a piece at pacaudio that lets you use your ipod with a factory stero, but I havent heard much about anyone using it, I need some feedback first.

Thanks for the input

Depends on which model of GM antenna you have, but there's a good chance it can be made to work with an aftermarket tuner. I've got a GM antenna that I got as a spare part (for a Pontiac Sunbird, I believe) installed on my Toyota Camry. It is a dual-lead antenna and it is connected to a dual-lead Skyfi cradle. Works great.

I believe you can use a dual lead antenna with a single lead cradle or receiver by just hooking up the "sat" (yellow) lead and leaving the "terr" (green) lead unconnected. The "sat" element with pick up both sat and terr. You may have to remove the yellow housing to get the plug to fit,

You might get into problems if you have a newer GM antenna with OnStar and XM in the same housing... Don't know anything about those. But it might work!

Sure...

One thing I still don't know is does your new truck have the Bose Audio system? After you tell me that I can tell you how to add your amps and speakers....

I have heard good things about that Ipod adapter.....and there are more of those coming out so there will some way to get the ipod to work well with your factory system...
