Is there any possibility that in the future XM may be able to carry NFL games, or does Sirius have the games locked up under contract for a long time?
I also see that we get ACC, Big 10, and Pac 10 games on XM. Unfortunately, I live in the middle of Big XII country and I understand that Sirius has rights to Big XII broadcasts. How long are these contracts set in stone?
Is XM moving and making attempts to get more programming and more choices? I've only been a subscriber for about two weeks, I was just curious how active XM is to expand their services. _________________ Cruising with a Roady 2 in my '89 Corvette.

| Sirius's NFL deal runs through 2010, so unless something catastrophic happens to the Dog I wouldn't look for the NFL on XM before then. |

if you live in the middle of Big XII country won't you get most of the games on TV anyway?
Having the ACC was a big factor in me getting XM... then I realized that I either go to the games I care about or watch them on Jefferson Pilot. |

Sadly, the NFL is becoming notorious for exclusivity deals...
Sunday Ticket on DirecTV only.
NFL on Sirius only.
and most recently...
NFL on EA Sports (video games) only.
Great for them, but terrible for consumers. _________________ - Heavy Doody |

| I agree with the previous poster. I know Sirius isn't doing well financially but The Dog will maintain it until at least until the deal runs out. Who knows though. The NFL just shook up the TV contract, with NBC getting Sunday night broadcasts and ESPN taking over MNF. Anything's possible. While Sirius arguably has a better sports lineup than XM (More college sports play-by-play, NBA, NHL, English Premier Soccer, NFL, and NASCAR in 2007), I think that will be the demise of them, and they bit off more than they could chew when they inked Stern to that huge deal. I enjoy The Dog for sports, but I love XM for the better music and MLB play-by-play. |

Sirius doesn't have a deal with the Big 12 as a conference, only with most of its schools individually through a deal with College Sports Television. Same goes for the SEC -- most of the schools are with the Dog, but there are a couple of holdout with no satellite distribution at all.
No idea how long the Sirius/CSTV deal runs or whether the money being spent by Sirius to get all those schools is more than XM is willing to spend to grab them away from the Dog when the contract is up. |

Speaking of the NHL, does anybody know how long their deal with Sirius is? I would LOVE to get the games on XM someday. |

The NBA seems headed for a lockout, too. Poor, poor Doggie ... |

| Weird thing is, I wasn't a big fan of the NHL as a whole five years ago (liked the Wings though), and was a diehard NBA fan. Now the shoes are reversed, and I actually missed hockey this year (especially the playoffs) but couldn't give a rip if the NBA never played again. Their product is so bad it'd almost be a blessing if they had a lockout. Maybe shut down 4-6 teams, and get some players who actually know how to play basketball. |

Much like the NFL TV deals, I would not be surprised that, at some time, NFL could make Sunday night Monday night games available.
I like the "exclusive" deal that Sirius has with the NBA. The problem is that the NBA has a deal with ESPN radio so all the games of the week and key playoff games appear on ESPN radio.
Not really exclusinve because XM gets those games. _________________ SPeeDy |

The problem is that the national radio rights for Sunday night and Monday night are currently owned by Westwood One, which doesn't believe in putting its content on sat-radio.
I wonder if that deal is up for renewal this year as the TV packages are; if so, there's at least a slight possibility that ESPN Radio could take over, which would enable XM to make a deal for coverage of the prime time games. |

Great business move Sirius, NBA on ESPN Radio again tonight for all XM listenters if they wanted to hear the game. _________________ "Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true." - Homer Simpson |

| From what I've been hearing, it sounds as if the NBA may avoid a lockout; however, even as a native Detroiter, I could care less what happens to professional basketball in the United States. |
