Contrary to popular belive, PIE does not have a 2003 accord solution.
I just ordred SNHOND3.
It's expensive.... bout twice the price over fm modulator.

| I just finished hooking mine up. Works great except I am picking up engine noise now. I am hooking my Sony PnP to it. Did you have any engine noise? I'm thinking I need some sort of filter? |

| Do you have any other sources hooked up to the CD/AUX line? (MP3 Player, Cassette). I'm curious if the interface can handle that. I have the MP3... |

Was thinking of buying a 2003 Accord EX V6, does the standard 6 disc indash CD changer have an aux input that would take an adaptor? Or did you have to disable the 6 disc changer?

George,
Since the Honda changer is in-dash, it should NOT need to be disabled. This is for EXTERNAL changers that use the same port. _________________ ~robert |

I have the in dash cd changer and hooked the adapter up where the mp3/cassette/etc hook up. The CD button on the Stereo also works with that connection. 1 push plays cd and 1 more plays the XM. Works great and better sound then the irock that I was using. I dunno if it will work with the mp3 player or not. My understanding was that you could have 2 external devices such as mp3 and cassette. I'm not sure how those would interface though.
Now to find out why I am getting engine noise... |

Make sure your ground is done well/properly. Mine came loose (there's something to be said for half-assing it with tape) and I got the whine. Splicing it with the ground to my headunit got rid of the noise.
This was with the FM mod for power and AUX-IN via RCA inputs on back of headunit (FM mod was leftover from that type of installation before I got a new headunit... just left it behind the dash) _________________ ~robert |

I originally had my Sony PnP hooked up using an iRock Fm Modulator. I didn't have the engine noise then. My power source is from the 12 volt outlet in the center console. That hasn't changed either.
I picked up a Ground Loop Isolator... but that didn't fix it either.
Tech support at Log Jam Electronics (where I got the adapter for the radio) suggested that I "try to ground the 'shield' of one of the RCA connections to see if the noise goes away". I assume that means to run a ground wire to one of the RCA connectors? I understand the basics of electric but I don't want to just start grounding things, etc. Would I be safe grounding the RCA to ground?
Soundgate technical support said that they had no reports of such problems and suggested that it might be the 'ferret coils that need to be placed on the antenna'. I have those on there. Same thing. I think I'll hook my mp3 player up and see if the same sound occurs.
I read somewhere that sometimes cables running parallel can cause noise. I haven't looked into that yet.
This is all frustrating because the general sound is SO much better than with the FM Mod. And it's FAR more convenient.
Any ideas? |

I also have the Soundgate adapter for the 2003 accord. I am getting engine noise as well and I had the whole thing professionally installed. Also, when the car is at a stop, the Delphi will display all the information on the screen.... but when I start to drive it displays "Antenna". But when I stop again it goes away. It is just really making me mad that I can't see the artist and song name while I drive.
Any thoughts? |

I also have the 03 Accord with the Nav system and six disc changer...
My installers are telling me that the soundgate (link above) will not work with the factory installed changer... It sounded like there was at least one other person who already had this configuration? and it did work?
also, does anyone have any pictures of how the install went? I was planning on having mine (sony PnP) put in the sort of cubby hole/cd holder under the nav screen. where did you put yours?
Please help, I really don't want to go the FM mod route!
thanks. |

| I also have a problem with a hissing noise from the aux output before I turn on my Sony PnP and hissing noise when my engine is running. I am using the Soundgate interface for the 2003 Honda. I talked with a technician from Soundgate and he said that the problem might be from the power lead since it has to go from 12v to 6v and I should get a RCA isolator ? Why does Sony do this ?This is not my area of expertise but will go to radio shack and see what they have that I can use. Also I may not be getting a good ground from my cigeratte lighter so I am going to use the FM modulator that I already have and use it as my power source and go to the fuze box. I mounted my sony in the cd holder area and fits great. Has anybody solved the hissing noise ? |

Hello guys!
I recently bought and installed Soundgate SNHOND03 adapter and also get the engine noise. Funny thing is when I start the car (but leave the AUX stereo off) I hear loud engine noise. And sometimes I dont hear anything at all, except the usual AUDIO-QUEIT hissing, which is normal. In the second case the noise starts after the car warms up. VERY STRANGE!!!
When the adaptor was installed I told the installer to do proper grounding using honda's H/U ground wire. Also, he tried grouning shield of the RCA connector but it didnt help.
The only thing that was useful is the ground-loop-isolator which reduced the engine noise (before G-L-I the noise was VERYYY loud).
I was just wondering if anyone managed to get rid of the engine noise completely!? |

I have the same adapter in my car. I had the same noise problem with the Sony and my Roady. Go to Radio Shack and buy the Ground Loop Insulator. It fixed my engine noise problem and also the sound in general seems to be louder and crisper since I installed it. _________________

The Accord Aux. / Sony adapter sold by Soundgate has been discussed on this board and is known to have noise problems, why is this now a revaluation to the people who installed it in their Accords. If we were to read the posts on this and others have had problems with why would others think that they would not?
The simple answer is stay away from products that have known defects. The Soundgate Accord adapter has problems. |
