Just a quick "Oh by the way..." Doug McLeod has apparently been "reassigned" from his post as the Avs PBP TV guy. Mike Haynes has been moved from the Avs radio booth to take McLeod's place on the TV side for the time being with Peter McNab.
Norm Jones, the radio color guy and the voice of the old NHL Rockies, has assumed the PBP on Avs Radio.

This may be old news, but what happened to John Kelly? I moved from Denver a couple of years ago and when I was there he was the TV PBP guy... _________________ Chicks dig the long ball! |

An update....
____________
HAYNES' TV ROLE TO LAST
By Dusty Saunders, Rocky Mountain News
December 2, 2005
Mike Haynes will remain a TV broadcaster for the Colorado Avalanche for the rest of this season.
And Norm Jones will go solo on the radio broadcasts - at least for the time being.
Those decisions were announced Thursday by Tom Philand, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Altitude Sports and Entertainment.
Haynes last week was abruptly moved from his longtime play- by-play position on KKFN-AM (950) to team with veteran TV analyst Peter McNab. The move was made after Altitude received negative response about McNab's new partner, Doug McLeod.
"Mike still prefers radio to television, but he's agreed to stay on the TV side at least for the rest of this season," Philand said. "Hopefully we'll find some help on radio coverage for Jones. The radio coverage is too much for a single broadcaster."
Philand said McLeod, who turned down an offer to work with Jones, could stay with Altitude in "an ancillary broadcasting capacity."
Philand said the TV change was made because the telecasts "were not hitting on all cylinders.
"It was a chemistry issue. We feel McNab and Haynes make an excellent TV team." _________________

| I actually liked McLeod's enthusiasm on the Avs radio PBP, but I can understand why Altitude made the switch. Norm Jones can hold his own on the PBP, so won't be much of a loss overall. If only we can get Aebischer back on his usual consistent track (which, with Buffalo and Boston coming up on the schedule, best fucking happen!), all the better. |
