As you may be aware, XM Satellite Radio and Clear Channel were in arbitration last week in reference to a couple of channels they programmed for us at one time. Coming out of those meetings there has been a considerable amount of misinformation being spread out in the retail channel and we want to clear it up. Our competition has already started to put their spin on it and we want to make sure you know the truth.

- We are not adding commercials to all of our music channels. Clear Channel will have a few commercials on their 4 programmed channels and that is it. This will still be considerably less than terrestrial radio.

-We will be adding several new channels April 1st, and 4 of those channels will match the format of Nashville, Mix, Kiss, and Sunny, with no commercials.

-We will still have the most commercial free music channels.

That's good to see. I'm even sure that the XM-programmed channels will be better than the CC-controlled ones anyway.

Good info, Ryan. Thumbs Up

Awesome.

I dunno who would still listen to the CC operated ones after these new ones will be launched. Me thinks the CC ones won't be around too much longer because hopefully CC will realize it is a waste of time to run their channels that way on XM, especially after this response.

Man, I sure hope that heavy metal is one of those exciting new formats they are teasing us with, or I will be sorely disappointed.

That letter doesn't confirm anything. It just confirms that they're adding new commercial-free channels. It doesn't confirm that it's gonna be the same formats. It's redundant. It's dumb.

the bullet points in my post above are also direct quotes from the XM announcement. It clearly states 4 of the several new channels will be the same format.

What announcement? The one on XM's site? It says the same thing that the pictured document says. You're quoting something that may or may not exist.

It was a email sent to all XM distributors.

Then that sucks. What are the other channels?
And when do WE, the subscribers (including those who don't read this board), find out about this officially?

I don't think ALL of the channels need a replacement. Top 20 on 20 kind of matches KISS in a way. Highway 16 is close to Nashville. Now Sunny and Mix are another story. We don't have another Easy Listening or Hot AC format. I was kind of hoping they'd use this opportunity to put one of the Latin DirecTV channels onto the XM satellites. Or premiere one of the XMRO exclusives like enLIGHTen.

Anyone else hoping for one or two channel deletions to balance this out? They've got a little dead weight.

Well i give XM credit for their responce on this but...........bandwidth oh precious bandwidth...perhaps they had saved some bandwidth for an emergency or perhaps take it from bandwidth that was reserved for video ???? I can just imagine the SQ threads now......!!!
