Mike Leake accused of stealing shirts

CINCINNATI -- Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge at a downtown department store Monday, accused of trying to steal six shirts with a total value of $59.88.

The 23-year-old starter was booked at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. It carries a maximum of 180 days in jail.

He was arrested about two hours before Cincinnati pitchers were expected at Great American Ball Park to take batting practice before the final game of a series against Pittsburgh. Leake started and got the victory in an 11-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday...

CRAZY as Mike Leake was the winning pitcher yesterday. The Cardinal fans have already produced a mock t-shirt for the series this weekened.

For sure but we are due to get some body's back from the DL soon. Homer B, Johnny C, Scott R, Juan Francisco. They need to give D. Willis a shot. He was been on fire in AAA as a starting pitcher. (I know, big diff. between AAA and majors)

And that's the thing about the Central division. .500 will keep you within striking distance until the cavalry arrives.

I think Dontrelle is fools gold. I like the guy, but he hasn't done anything of note in the majors in years now. Anybody with his experience should dominate in AAA against younger players. He's a good dude and I'm rooting for him, he was cool as hell at Redsfest, but I don't see it.

Here's my collection of free swag from all the games I've attended over the past couple of years.

And my buddy got some sweet seats from his job for yesterday's game. Here's those. My regular Saturday seats aren't nearly as good.

It has been a tough year for the Reds thus far. We are losing the close games we would have won last year. We are not behind by too many games but we have three teams to hop over.

Yea, I get U. My wife and I were at the game Friday and witnessed the embarrassment Cinci had by giving up the in-the-park homer. Doesn't look they will repeat this year. Of course, our CUBS are an even bigger bust.

CINCINNATI -- Reds reliever Bill Bray will be part of a roster featuring Major League players that will participate in the 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series.

The roster, which was announced on Friday by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, will play against the Chinese Taipei national team from Nov. 1-6 in three difference cities -- New Taipei City, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

In his first full year back from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, Bray led the Reds in games pitched this season with 79. He was 5-3 with a 2.98 ERA, 17 walks and 44 strikeouts.

Other players on the MLB club include Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano of the Yankees, Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers, Pablo Sandoval of the Giants and Logan Morrison of the Marlins. The team will be managed by Giants skipper Bruce Bochy.

More players for the roster will be announced in the coming weeks by MLB and the MLBPA.

Why have not the Reds signed Phillips yet? Confused They will not be able to afford him if he is a free agent at end of season.

Phillips stays patient despite lack of extension
Reds second baseman won't set deadline to get deal done

I am looking forward to a new season. Now that I upgraded my gear, I am expecting a nice way to listen to the Reds over the other way via the signal from WLW in Cincy. The signal is good, but not like the audio quality found on the satellites. I also like the ability to listen into the opposition's broadcasters when the Reds on the road.

I just hope Uverse does their Multiview for the Cubs games. Selected all the angles that are there for their home games, especially with the Reds just makes me like I was in the control room. Now I can show more fan reaction, focus more on certain players, even both managers in the dugout.

My favorite is whenever they have the cameras focused on the fans during the game. Last year, for example, I saw everything from couples embracing to medics patching up a stadium employee after getting decked by a Reds' home run to security taking away an unruly fan. Combined with the Cubs' game from the radio, it might be delayed a little bit, but at least it beats their TV commentary.

As far as I am concerned, one has to have optimism. So the Reds lost one of their pitchers. If the scouts did their work during the offseason, somebody could be waiting in the wings to star on the roster or the Reds can trade for someone else from somewhere else.

Good Luck for all Reds Fans. Smile
