Hello,
I emailed some folks at XM about the status of the regional talk stations and received a response last night, and with permission from Jon Zellner I will share it with all of you.

Corry -

Thanks for your e-mail regarding the regional news and talk
channels that were scheduled to begin airing on XM this summer.

These channels were going to be operated by one of our content
partners, Clear Channel Communications. Clear Channel has the
contractual right to create certain programming for XM. Over the past
few months, Clear Channel decided not to move forward with this
programming.

You can contact Clear Channel directly as to why they made this
decision. They have not determined the alternate programming for this
bandwidth and XM has no plans to replace these channels.

Thank you again for your inquiry and for being an XM subscriber.

Best regards,

Jon

another example of poor communication from big brother. they should have issued a statement on the web site informing subscribers of clear channels choosing to back out on the regional channels we were told to expect this summer. that being said I want my damn music lab back then or go forward and do two new channels splitting jam and progressive rock. (I know its not going to happen since the band width belonged to cc or what ever)

This is kind of disappointing to me. I was looking forward to hearing them and seeing what they had to offer, regardless of who was running or in charge of them. I really like talk radio and I live in a very rural area and I very rarely get an AM or FM signal. Oh well.....

I'm disappointed as well that these fell through. I think the talk choices on both XM and Sirius suck. I was hoping for something good...but not this time.

I don't think so, folks. As I understand it, CC has always had their own precious little pile of bandwidth that they're free to do with as they wish. The regional talk channels were to come from their allocated bandwidth. I don't believe XM can "take over" the bandwidth CC was planning to use here and program their own in house channels - unfortunately (Give us a REAL prog rock channel, XM!)

I wonder if he wrote "assholes," then realized it and replaced it with "partners."

As usual, the channel guide PDF on XM's website is outdated. Granted, it's only outdated as of today (no more FIFA), but I'm in a crappy mood and felt like complaining anyway. Dance

That's too bad. They might have had some good stuff -- even with CC in charge.

Once again, CC decides to screw XM over. They gave XM information to pass on to their listeners creating buzz and excitement and then they simply take it away and leave XM holding the bag.

Fuck CC and Fuck those that support CC. #alien
