yes, but the junior members don't get paid off by the lobbyists |
The anti-merger NAB is the one spending all the lobbying money…. by a wide margin, so if anyone is getting paid off it would be the ones recommending against the merger. |
trust me, there are plenty of Pro-XM/Sirius merger lobbyists in Washington _________________ The one and only, XMFan.com!

With the way the NAB handled the situation, you could say they were one of them. _________________ XM subscriber since 2005/12/05:- Pioneer Airware (LIFE, wife)

FWIW, the DC Post is giving its stamp of approval for the merger. _________________ ~Td~

While the merger still scares me more than it excites me, I'll be glad for a decision either way. I want to get to the business of upgrading some hardware and I've been sitting on a decision for a while and I'll be glad when I have a better view of my purchase options.
Of course this assumes no legal appeals....

Hasn't Karmazin already said he'll be suing if the FCC doesn't rubber-stamp the merger? |

One question that I still have is if the merger is approved, how soon will the new dual operational receivers be made available.
I had both services and dropped XM once baseball was done. I would love to have the best of both (a la carte) but apparently requires the new receivers.
Or would the new price program provide the ability to get both under the a la carte pricing with both old receivers? _________________ SPeeDy

As soon as the merged company finds a manufacturer willing to produce the receiver on SiriXM's terms, I'd imagine.
From what I understand, any new receivers won't be truly interoperable. Rather, they'll be receivers for the XM or Sirius service with the capability of receiving 10 or so "best of" channels from the other service that will be retransmitted in the original XM or Sirius frequency range.
As for a true interoperable receiver, that will have to wait until SiriXM, the manufacturers, the investors, and Wall Street determine whether satellite radio is headed for a growth spurt, plodding along steadily, plateauing or declining. One thing, I feel, is certain: the current trend of declining subscription increases will have to stop. No manufacturer will want to sign on to produce the next eight-track player, VCR or WebTV. |

So, if I prefer the a la carte programming (All Sirius and select 11 xm music channels, XM sports and XM202), can I do that with 2 separate receivers or wait for the new interoperational one? _________________ SPeeDy

| I'll be interested to see if the merger is approved (and it sounds like it will be) if the FCC will impose any stipulations on the company when they go to give their approval. And, in turn, will those stipulations be binding, or non-binding? |
