MLB Home Plate, Ch. 175, played Classic Games every morning, 2-5 AM (central). Two Classic Games on Sunday, 11PM-2AM and the regular 2AM-5AM. For about two weeks now they have been replaying programs and no games. I enjoyed the Classics. Does anyone know what is up with that? Please don't tell me they aren't going to play them anymore, that would be a stupid program decision. |

That's a good question.... I didn't even reaize that they did this? I hop eit is just a temporary thing.
I wonder if there is anything to the mlb network coming in Jan 2009 that is causing them to hold back the classic games.
I realy enjoyed them. _________________ SPeeDy

I didn't know about the MLB network. Oh boy, we are still going round and round about the NFL network with my cable provider.
I feel that XM should explain why they stopped the classic games. Many of the broadcasts were games from the current season. Talking baseball is fine, but listening to baseball is great. The last few months before they stopped the classic games they were scrolling comments like "Maddux wins his 300th!" This kind of takes the suspense out of the game. It's obvious that whoever manages MLB on XM is lacking. They also talked of replaying games on all the play-by-play channels, they sit there idle all day long. They never did.
I hope someone from XM, if they care, would respond to the change in programing. |

So are the idiots who write the program descriptions you see when you want details on an ESPN Classic program. Instead of just saying "College Football. From 1983: Michigan State vs. Notre Dame," it will say something like "College Football. From 1983: Michigan State vs. Notre Dame. The Irish edged the Spartans, 24-23." I hate that. |

But, at least, they were PLAYING the classic games! Now, they aren't even setting up suspense to be ruined. They're just running repeats of shows!
I miss looking for when random Braves games would be replayed and getting a little baseball fix in the cold months. |

| This is the one change I don't like. I do like that there is now less repeats on the channel and more live talk, but I loved waking up to the last few innings of an old broadcast. |

I'm hoping that we can see some improvements to that lineup, come Spring Training.
But, wouldn't now be a PERFECT time for some replays? |

My apologies ... I put this in two other threads, when I thought I had talked about this in them. Then I came across this thread.
Anybody thought of the fact that "XM-Sirius" doesn't have the rights to ANY MLB games, classic ones included? So, Homeplate, which is now on Sirius, too, under the "Best of XM" package can't have Classic games until a renegotiation occurs. Have you noticed they don't promo baseball at all on Sirius, likely because they don't know that it will ever be available on anything that is non-XM ...? |

It looks as though Classic MLB games are airing on Saturday's and Sunday's from 7pm to 11pm.

I didn't catch any of it, but apparently Christmas Day saw Home Plate air a daylong "Day of Champions" marathon of past World Series broadcasts.
And, coming up on 1/1:

Ring in the New Year with MLB Home Plate
Re-live the best games of 2008 as we ring in 2009 on MLB Home Plate. You’ll hear some of the most memorable games of the season; from the epic All Star Game at The Stadium to the Red Sox thrilling comeback in Game 5 of the ALCS and much more. It’s the best games of 2008 on MLB Home Plate, all-day, New Year’s Day, on XM 175 and SIRIUS 210.

mlb network "drops" on the 1st with a hotstove show, followed by Don Larsen's perfect game ... this link has both a list of shows coming in January AND you can type in your zip code to find out if you're getting it! Thank the good Lord that Charlottesville WILL be getting it. Deliver us from the evil of Sportscenter with their NBA and NHL highlights!

Is there a link to the schedule of classic games some where? And, when does spring training coverage actually begin? _________________ Cruise Brothers |
