ALL ACCESS heard from 16 tons of XM SATELLITE folks who surfed to a page on the company's Intranet site, that listed their benefits, vacation days, etc.

Shocker when some of them found out their personal information included a termination date of OCTOBER 15th. Stand by! The list could be long.

The report is from AllAccess.com, a radio industry news site. You need to register for free in order to view news items on the site.

Well, it would not surprise me if this report is true.

I know for a fact that October 15th is the day because many people that I talk to and work with there are being let go on that day.

I'm not surprised. This needs to happen if this company wants to survive. They have to start cutting costs.

But what about the SIRIUS side sharing the cuts? This sounds like a takeover to me.

Sirius had been growing faster than XM had been up until the merger. What's your point? There has been people from XM and Sirius put into positions in the upper managerment department.

Nobody said Sirius isn't sharing the cuts, only that XM employees saw the list on their side. I guess we'll see.

Wasn't Radio Shack or some company like that that did that a few years ago? Sent out an e-mail to some employees kindly telling them that they were fired?

Nice. Better than a text message, I guess. Or Donald Trump.

Yeah. That's 32,000 pounds of employees gone. Hopefully most of them weigh 700 pounds each.

Duh.

They have all the equipment. Now they just have to reduce fixed costs.

Unfortunately, this happens through staff reductions most of the time.

And, "Becoming more 'green'".

That doesn't mean your safe. It means that as long as the company that holds the contract does so at a lesser price than the company that holds Sirius' contract you will have a job.

However, given how other choices have come down, it would not surprise me to see Sirius take over the customer service portion of it as well. They just haven't gotten down to merging call centers yet. It will happen, bet on it.
