A few minutes ago I heard Gunhill Road's "Back When My Hair Was Short," which peaked at #40. Thomps2525, here's two more for your list "Doctor's Orders" by Carol Douglas and "Don't Give Up On Us" by David Soul.

Those are now on the list. Carol Douglas is a cousin of the late Sam Cooke, and her mother, jazz singer Minnie Newsome, was supposedly the inspiration for Cab Calloway's 1931 hit, Minnie The Moocher. ("Heidy-heidy-heidy-ho!") David Soul (born David Solberg) played Joshua Bolt on ABC's Here Come The Brides (1969-70) and Detective Ken Hutchison on ABC's Starsky & Hutch (1975-76). His one hit song lasted about as long on the chart as his two series lasted on television. Smile

Three Dog Night had about 20 great hits in the 60s and 70s, and you can hear about 6 of them played over and over on SXM.

Last night Brucie, by request, played "One Man Band" from 1970. That was the first time I've heard it on Sirius FM. I've been a subscriber since 2003. According to the XM database, it was last played on the awful 70s channel in November 2008.

Since that time, they've played "Black and White" approx. 874 times. Because their research shows that "Black and White" is 874 times more popular than "One Man Band." Who can argue with that?

One Man Band gets played once a year. Two Divided By Love gets played two times a year. Three Times A Lady gets played three times a year. I think I'm starting to figure out the pattern.

Could it be the 70's on 7 playlist is....expanding? Finally?

Thomps, you might want to check out Dogstar. I saw "Day Dreaming" by Aretha today, and there may be some others. And that's in the midst of the Robin Gibb tribute, where a lot of deeper Bee Gees cuts are being played.

I'll check out Dogstar...but are you sure the '70s Channel playlist is expanding? Maybe you're just daydreaming. Smile

I've found dogstar to be right anout 80% of the time. Some songs, for some reason, just never appear.

On the 70s on 7 FB page, some nice listener requested "Love Me For a Reason" a top-10 songs for the Osmonds in 1974, right smack in the middle of the decade.

Of course, one of the lame voice-trackers responded "We'll try."

Of course it did not happen. That hit song was last played on the channel that plays "all the 70s hits" in 2007.

Blow it up and start over. As someone else noted, they're continuing their special program that has aired since merger: "Endless Repetition."

And Magic Matt: Please stop trying to be funny. It isn't happening.

Just got out of Wendy's. I'm not sure what their music service is, but it was a 70s channel. Back-to-back I heard:

"Every Kinda People" by Robert Palmer
"Stand By Me" by John Lennon
"Why Can't I Touch You" by Ronnie Dyson

After listening to Sirius FM's lame 70s channel, my visit to Wendy's reminded me that there really was more to 70s music than Andy Gibb, Eagles, and Earth Wind & Fire.

I cannot post comments on the 70's Facebook page--I was banned months ago along with several others for complaining about the playlist. At least the people that run the 80's Facebook page are much more lenient, and you don't have to fear getting banned for posting anything negative. Whoever requested that Osmonds song better not gripe about NOT hearing that song, or they will be banned too.

I should add that I'm getting the free preview right now. Same 'ol, same 'ol where the 70's and 80's channels are concerned. Its too bad that the programmers of those channels are blind and deaf to what the paying customers want.

Indy, whatever happened to "Tommy"? You remember him?---the "deaf dumb & blind kid" who played pinball. Maybe he's now programming the '70s and '80s channels. That would explain a lot.

Music Choice playlist from 9:00 until 9:30 EDT this morning:

"Blue Morning Blue Day" by Foreigner
"Groovy Situation" by Gene Chandler
"Mercy Mercy Me" by Marvin Gaye
"It's a Long Way There" by Little River Band
"It Don't Matter to Me" by Bread
"Black Magic Woman" by Santana
"Day By Day" from Godspell
"This Will Be" by Natalie Cole

Now back to the safe and predictable SXM 70s channel, where you will hear "Saturday in the Park" and "One of These Nights" in just a moment.

Its too bad that things remain as bland and boring as ever on the 70's channel. Despite the months and years of bitching and whining here, nothing has ever changed. The programmers have hunkered down and stayed on their own course of featuring primarily the biggest hits. But, I'm over it. I got more music in my own personal collection than I'll ever listen to, and there are plenty of internet stations I can access either via my Iphone or PC.

Three of those eight songs are from 1970. If they were indeed played on the Music Choice '70s channel, then I'm right---1970 was part of the decade! After listening to XM in the past four years following the merger with Sirius, I honestly thought the definition of "decade" had changed. I thought the decade of the '70s included only 1973 to 1979. Now that I'm reassured, maybe I can someday find proof that the decade of the '60s does not begin with 1964 but with 1960.
